Where were you when the clock struck midnight on January 1?

For many NBA 2K League hopefuls, ringing in the new year meant beginning their journey toward hopefully making it as a professional esports athlete.

The NBA 2K League Qualifier officially opened early Monday. Players have until January 31 to win 50 Pro-Am games and complete an online registration later this month. Those that meet those two requirements will move on to the tryout stage in February.

Many players got an early start on knocking out their 50 wins, recording double-digit victories just a few hours into qualifying.

An unlimited number of players will qualify for the tryout stage, where they will be more closely scouted for their NBA 2K18 prowess. The league will then host a draft in March as 85 players are selected to compete in an inaugural season beginning in May that features 17 teams.
